Tom Levak

Bass Guitar

From the pulsating heartland of Ohio, where passion and music meet precision, Against The Wind’s Tom Levak  breathes life into the strings of the bass guitar. At the young age of 11, Tom discovered his love for the bass, the instrument that would shape his destiny and set his soul ablaze with the timeless rhythm of classic rock and the blues.

Tom's musical journey took worldwide flight in 1972, when he went on tour “across the pond”, soaking in the diverse musical landscapes of Europe. But his talent knew no borders, besides Europe, Tom has ventured through Canada and criss crossed through more than 20 different states here at home in the USA.

Rooted in the timeless appeal of classic rock and the raw, emotive power of the blues, Tom's fingers bring about soul-stirring notes and electrifying riffs. Influenced by legends such as Jack Bruce of Cream, John Entwhistle of The Who, and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, he carved his niche in the annals of bass players, infusing his artistry with echoes of the past and visions of the future.

One pivotal moment in Tom's musical memory occurred in the early 1970s at the Mosquito Dam Jam, staged at the Trumbull County FairGrounds in Cortland Ohio. It was there that he first encountered the magic of Bob Seger's performance. Alto Reed's saxophone melodies enchanted the crowd and Tom became a huge sax fan. Having already found his muse in the rhythmic heartbeat of the bass guitar. Tom stayed with his original passion. With every pluck of the strings, Tom Levak replicates the powerful bass in Seger music; the kind that transcends time and resonates in the souls of Seger enthusiasts worldwide. His riffs are not just powerful, but they are a testament to the undying spirit of a true artist, a testament that will continue to echo through the ages.
